How does it work?
Umbrella internet gateway secures your business against malware, phishing and ransomware. Umbrella is well suited to businesses from 1 to 10,000 members of staff, safeguarding organisations from every size. The solution is also very easy to use and configure, with limited complexity and immediate results.
Your business uses an application called “DNS” to lookup the addresses of domain names (e.g. google.com). DNS resolves the addresses of legitimate websites, but it can also be used to connect your users (or malware) to high risk websites, e.g. badwebsites-21321.org. Umbrella screens your DNS traffic, neutralises threats and alerts you to anomalous behaviour that may indicate a breach.
What is an internet gateway?
Umbrella acts as a gateway between the internet and your business systems and data to block malware, botnets and phishing over any port, protocol or app, and also detect and contain advanced attacks before they can cause damage. Umbrella discovers and blocks malicious domains and IP addresses before antivirus vendors or reputation systems identify them, and often before an attack is launched.
Umbrella leverages big data analytics and real-time algorithmic learning machines processing over one million events per second. It protects users on-and off-network, across any port, protocol, or app. Granular Web filtering provides you with compliance visibility and controls and because Umbrella is delivered via the cloud, it is lightning-fast and easily scalable.
Layered DefenceThe Umbrella solution works best when implemented as part of a wider enterprise security strategy. Configuring your firewalls to only allow DNS traffic through Umbrella provides a secure conduit, and immediately identifies exceptions. Umbrella also works seamlessly alongside your existing endpoint protection (AV) and content filtering solutions.
It is considered best-practice to layer-up your security, and Umbrella provides an additional layer to improve your security posture.
